If football matches were decided by possession, chances created, and sheer determination, we’d have won this game. Unfortunately, the rules still require the ball to go in the net.
Growler came out firing on all cylinders, dominating the early exchanges with relentless pressure and slick passing. Jake and Miles both carved out golden chances, the kind that usually ripple the net, but today they drifted just wide. The lads were buzzing, the crowd was hopeful, and it felt like only a matter of time.
But football, as ever, had other ideas.
Against the run of play, Pelsall found joy down the flanks, feeding their wingers who managed to sneak in a goal that felt like a sucker punch. Before we could regroup, they doubled their lead, leaving us stunned but not broken.
The second half was déjà vu. Growler controlled possession, dictated tempo, and created more chances than a raffle, but the finishing touch continued to elude us. Pelsall, clinical on the counter, bagged a third. And just when we thought the final whistle would offer mercy, they slotted in a fourth with the last kick of the game.
A standout performance today from Elliot, a true warrior in the middle of the park. Won every header, broke up play, and gave Pelsall’s midfield nightmares. A true Growler through and through.
A not so standout performance was from Aman. Three falls. One scream. All the drama. The grass wasn’t even slippery, it just gave up trying to hold him up.
We go again. Heads high, boots laced, and eyes on the next battle. Growler doesn’t fold we reload.
