FC Premier mauled by the Growlers!
With Storm Claudia and the Growlers taking on the darts in Wolverhampton it was looking questionable as to whether the game was going to happen, but thank fuck it did!
The game started quickly with a lot of sloppy passes and questionable touches by the growler starting 11 which was topped off by vice captain Shea Brennan, still probably half cut from the night before, passing the ball to the FC premier midfield who he must’ve mistaken for Billy Howell and a brilliant finish saw Premier take a deserved 1-0 lead.
Calls from the gaffer and growler faithful were answered quickly with a brilliant long throw and flick on by Mr Brennan to finally find a growler player and Isaac wrapped the ball into the top right of the Premier net to make it 1 all.
After a few missed chances by Growlers temporary striker Dixon found Calvert-Preston for the man to strike one across goal into the far left corner, this man does not score tap ins. Growler have completed the turnaround on 20 mins.
Growler were now controlling play and popping the ball about leaving the premier players chasing shadows. Growlers inverted full back Jake picked up the ball and sprayed a beautiful ball to Dixon who strikes first time to find the bottom corner.
With the game at 3-1 the message was clear go out and get another before half time and so they did. A brilliant free kick in from the left saw Shea Brennan turn provider for the 3rd time beating the premier keeper to the ball for Dixon to drill home for his 2nd of the game.
Half time came and the Growlers could smell blood, go out and get another 4. However a scrappy 2nd half saw not many chances created from either team, which was a good thing for Skidmore in net who spent much of the game throwing up in his own penalty area and then lying down in it. Probably time to give up the eluxs mate.
On the 60th minute mark Layton picked up the ball on the left and whipped in a beautiful ball for Calvert-Preston to grab his second of the game. Not much else happened other than minutes for subs German, Rast, Wadams and the return of Sam Green. Growlers final substitution Max Green didn’t make it onto the pitch for a second week running as he spent the whole second half on the phone to babestation. The final score 5-1 and an excellent reply after a disappointing result last week sees Growler sit 4th in the league after 10 games.
